RCNAS Dartmouth : Squadron 743,
Maintenance Crew, 1948
Larry Vipond says:
" Before it was HMCS Shearwater, it was the Royal Canadian Naval Air Station, Dartmouth.
(RCNAS Dartmouth). The base became HMCS Shearwater when the Navy officially took over the base from the RCAF.
I believe that was in 1948.
" The attached picture is a very early maintenance crew on squadron VS 32 at the RCNAS
and was shot in 1948. That twin engine aircraft is an Anson, inherited from the RCAF. "
Larry Vipond is at the top, leaning against the starboard engine and holding a hammer.
