I received the following email from John Hill —
"William Ireland CREED, the husband of my father's sister, is listed as a member of the crew of
HMCS Niobe
in 1911. He married Mary Ann Elizabeth HILL in 1907 and they had a son Arthur, born 1909. Mary died in 1909 from TB.
William married again in 1921.
"In your crew list (05 05) he is shown as S for single rather than W for widower.
He was born in 1878 so his age is incorrectly listed. His birthplace is correct and we know that he emigrated to
Canada. Do you have any further details of him after 1911?
"I have attached 3 photos. One is my father's sister Mary HILL.
The other two are, I believe, William Ireland CREED. I do not know the date of the latter two photos.
Do you think they may have been taken aboard HMCS Niobe?"
February, 2014 : Steve Creed, a grandson of William
Ireland Creed, has confirmed that these photos are of his grandfather.
William Ireland Creed.
William Ireland Creed, taken onboard a ship. Was this HMCS Niobe?
Mary Ann Elizabeth Hill, wife of William Ireland Creed. Baby is their son Arthur, born 1909.
