In an email of March 7, 2026, Jason English wrote: "While searching this ship's roster, there is an entry for 'Rook, Frederick Bertie', with some question marks. That is almost certainly my great grandfather, 'Frederick Bertie ROOT'. He served on the Niobe for many years, including being on the ship's roster when the Great Halifax Explosion occurred in December 1917. My grandfather and his younger brother survived that explosion."
