Royal Canadian Navy : HMCS Prince Robert
HMCS Prince Robert was built in 1930 by CN Steamships,
to serve as a small luxury liner serving the tourist trade on Canada's west coast. In 1939, along with her two sister
ships, Prince David and Prince Henry, she was acquired by
the RCN and converted into an Armed Merchant Cruiser.
See the Wikipedia article on the three ships (the
article is specifically about the Prince David).

This painting shows Prince Robert before she was converted into an Armed Merchant Cruiser at the start of WW2.
No museum accession number. Photo caption says "Prince Robert 1939, King George VI visit".
No museum accession number. Prince Robert before WW2, probably leaving the CNR dock in Prince Rupert, B.C.

of this photo may show that the men on the deck are RCN personnel, placing this photo just before conversion to an armed military vessel.

Prince Robert at Esquimalt, B.C., 1945. The photo description indicates
October, 1945, so this must be the crowd greeting the ship on her return from Hong Kong. This marked the end of her career in the Royal Canadian
Navy.
