Royal Canadian Navy :HMCS Cornwallis,
Skeena 1/68 Division.
Many thanks to Earl Storey for this scan of Skeena 1/68 Division at HMCS Cornwallis, which he originally posted on Facebook.
When I commented on the small size of the Division (only 28 recruits) he replied: " . . . . if I remember it was 20 recruits fresh from English Language school at St Jean
and 8 English recruits straight off the street. I was the only one from west of the Rockies and the only one posted West upon graduation. I believe they were reducing enrollment at the time in
advance of tri service. We were the second to the last 16-week course. There were 8-week divisions who came a month after us and left a month before us.
Great morale booster. (And) if it ever comes up in conversation, Mackenzie 1/68 was the last 16-week all-Navy division. "
The only one identified in the photo is Earl Storey, who is in the centre of the back row.
