WRCNS TRAINING, GALT, ONTARIO
Photos From The Collection of Gertrude Quinn
HMCS Conestoga :
Galt & Preston, Ontario, 1943.
WRCNS Training Establishment, Galt, Ontario.
Designated HMCS Conestoga, it was a former girls' reform school.
HMCS Preston, Ontario.
Writen on the back of the photo is: "The big buses are our "Liberty Boats". My room is on the floor where I have an X. It
faces the street. I can see everything going on around this corner. In the back we have a beautiful big flower garden
the length of the ship."
The Preston Springs Hotel is still standing (2016). It was left derelict for about 30 years in the 1950's but eventually restored and turned into
a nursing home. It was sold again in 2014. It has its own entry on the
Torontoghosts.org
website because at least one room is supposed to be haunted. (All of this info is from a simple Google search).
